Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
My car was stolen and sold. I worked a deal with the detective and got my car back but the people that stole it got off scott free. How can I have them arrested or prosecuted or whatever. I know their names and address.
1 Answer from Attorneys
If the police officer isn't interested in prosecuting, then you can call the prosecutor's office directly and ask to meet with them to discuss the evidence you have against the thieves. If they still don't want to prosecute, you might want to call your local media outlet and they might be better at getting some answers on why the thieves are getting off without prosecution.
You can also give the information you have to your insurance company to see if they would like to start a civil action against the thieves for any claims that they had to pay out to you because of the theft.
