Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

my car was stolen on the 4th of july in the middle of the night. There was no insurance on it because I wasnt driving it. well after the car was stolen it was wrecked into another vehicle nearby. the police showed up at my door at 7am, and asked where my vehicle i was and i said in the driveway. i looked and it was gone. the spare key was in the center console and i must have forgotten to lock the doors or maybe they broke the window, im not sure. but the officer would not let me report it stolen. I had no idea the car was gone until he showed up. now im recieveing letters in the mail from an insurance company saying that they are going to suspend my drivers liscense if i dont pay 3,104.00. Im a single mom and dont have that kind of money. what can i do to keep my drivers liscense?

You need to send them a letter to explain the situation to them. Did you ever file a police report or would they simply not allow you to do this? A letter from an attorney is likely what is needed to resolve this situation.
