Shoplifting is a first degree misdemeanor punishible by up to 6 months in jail, a fine of up to $1,000.00, and court costs. If you go to jail and cannot make any other arrangements for the care of your child Children's Services will take temporary custody.
This is a serious offense and you should make sure you have the services of an attorney to help you. If you cannot afford an attorney ask the Court to appoint one.
