Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Check Forgery
My grandmother recently past away and her estate was divided. My sister was the executor of the estate and was place in charge of splitting the assets. When all was done and said, she was given 6 checks to be mailed out. She forged the signature on 3 of them and cashed them at the local bank. I am out of state. Do I file a charge in Ohio or where I live? Is the bank liable for repaying the money? How do I recover the money?

Re: Check Forgery
Contact the Sheriff or Chief of Police in the area where the estate was opened. I would also contact the probate judge.
Re: Check Forgery
contact the probate court in the county where the estate was filed and find out the case number, judge and current status. Contact the Judge and notify him/her of what has transpired. Then cantact the local authorities regarding the forgery.
