Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
In Columbus, Ohio is it legal for a detective to come ask your children questions concearning any case without any permission from a parent?

Under Ohio law, it may be legal for the detective to ask a minor child questions, but whether the answers will be admissible in court if a parent was not there is an open question. The general rule is that without a parent being present for the questioning, the evidence the child gave won't be admissible. There are some exceptions, but that is the general rule.
