Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Conflict of interest?

My sister is charged with rape and is currently in jail. I

spoke to her over the phone and she feels that her court

appointed defense lawyer wants her to lie. She gave a formal

confession to police and wants to accept her punishment

without feeling so pressured. Yet, she would like a lawyer

to listen to her and guide her without feeling pressured.

If I hired a lawyer for her would it be a conflict of interest, because I'm a witness for the prosecution. Or is

it just not possible that a lawyer would just listen and

guide her without ''digging up dirt'' based on the charge she

is facing...

Re: Conflict of interest?

Yes, you can hire a lawyer for her. Is she just trying to take a plea, but her lawyer is trying to take it to trial ??
