Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

i was convicted in june 2009 for drug possession, which was reduced to paraphernalia. I wanted to get this charge expunged so I dont have any problems with renting or employment but cannot because I have other criminal convictions. Legal aid told me I can ask for a pardon thru clemency instead. But it seems as if i would have had to been incarcerated or on parole to do so. I have completed all fines and community service, classes and any requirements for each of my convictions. I am in school, went through counseling, and am really trying to better myself. I believe I have a shot at convincing a judge of positive changes on my part. But I really dont know my options. Can you help?
