Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

convicted of passing bad check

I have the receipt showing that the person who said I wrote the bad check lied. What do I do now. I served my time in prison

(felony of the fifth degree)

The person who said I wrote them the bad check sold over $250K

during the proceedings and while I was in jail/prison.

Please help me.

Re: convicted of passing bad check

If you can prove that someone lied and that lie led to your conviction you may be able to file a civil law suit against that person for money damages. You may also be able to get the prosecutor to file criminal charges against the person but that may not help you personally. In addition, if the conviction was for a felony, you may want to consider an action to get the conviction reversed because of the effect on your civil rights and your record. You really need to talk directly to an attorney as soon as possible. There are time limits that may effect you ability to pursue this. If you do not have an attorney and want to talk, give me a call. No charge or obligation for the call. Good luck! DHD

It's time to sue this person civilly. This will give you the power of subpoena which will permit you to discover where the money went.
