If your found guilty of a crime and then that law is overturned are you relased from prison?

The short answer is "that depends." The more complete answer is that whether or not a person will be released from prison when the law is overturned will depend upon many factors -- too many to go into in a general question like you ask. Just as an example, sometimes it makes a difference whether the defendant's case is still on appeal while other times that does not matter. That is just one example.

If your friend or loved one was convicted of an offense that was based on a law that has now been overturned you should consult with an experienced appeal attorney to find out what it means in your friend's particular case.
