Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
First Degree Misdemeanor
I am 20 years old and just got arrested for shoplifting in Ohio. I'm nervous that my Nursing school is going to kick me out, and I have no idea what to do. This is my first offense ever. I know a diversion program is a possibility but does that remove it from my record? Is it possible to bring the charge down? And will this follow me the rest of my life? Will this affect my job applications? I'm absolutely a mess.

Re: First Degree Misdemeanor
Diversion is a possiblity, a reduced charge is a possibility and there may be other possibilities. These depend on the facts of the case and what jurisdiction you are in. What municipal court are you charged in? Feel free to contact me if you wish. Best Regards, Edward Dicato
