Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Disorderly Conduct to Misdemeanor Assault

i was charged with DOC, but plan to fight it, if they would upgrade it to Misdemeanor Assault, what would be the most i could get i.e. jail? fine? I feel it was in self defense, of myself and my girlfriend, im 18, shes 17, but i was at her house, and her mom emotionally abuses her, i didnt like it, so i said something and was told to get out, so i was leaving, and she followed me, then tried pushing me down the stairs, so i shoved her against the wall, then she did push me, but i didnt fall down the stairs, just barely kept my balance, then my girlfriend, tried to get her to stop, but her mom threw her down the stairs, so i feel this is self defense, but im not sure what the court will feel

Re: Disorderly Conduct to Misdemeanor Assault

If you're convicted of assault, you could get up to 6 months in jail and be fined up to $1000. Here's the way I see it. You were in your underaged girlfriend's mother's house getting in the middle of something that wasn't your business. I don't think anybody's going to have a lot of sympathy for you. I wouldn't take any chances. I'd plead guilty to disorderly conduct.
