Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
My ex-girlfriend lives to hours away, but when she comes up here with her cousin lives, in my town, she will have her grandma drive past my house to see if my car is here. She will then go to my work and sit in the parking lot to see if I'm working. If I am working she will sit there for a few minutes and watch me. Is this enough to get a restraining order against her?
1 Answer from Attorneys
What you describe is called a Civil Protection Order. Do you feel in danger? Is their presence keeping you from working or going home? If not, I do not think the judge will grant it, however, it costs nothing to try. Also, if it is granted there will be hearing with you and your ex-girlfriend a few weeks later to see whether it should be continued. I recommend you hire an attorney to write a letter to your ex-girlfriend and her grandma. This will be probably stop the behavior.
