Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Fake ID Question
I was recently caught with a fake id on a college campus that I do not attend. I am 19 years old, and it was my first offense. It was a manufactured id. Being a college sudent, I cannot afford a lawyer. What should I plead? What is the most likely penalty? Will I only receive a fine? I am just very nervous because it is almost summer, and I live about five hours from the college, so I am hoping to get everything taken care of at this first court date because i it would be very difficult for me to get down to the school. Thanks, and any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. (The officer who wrote the ticket said that it was a first degree misdimeanor)

Re: Fake ID Question
You need to talk directly to an attorney. A first degree misdemeanor will not land you in prison but it will still be bad for your record. There are usually some options that can protect your record. If you can not afford an attorney, ask the Court for a public Defender. If you want to get this overwith, come up with some money to pay an experienced criminal attorney and follow his or her advise! You are paying a lot of money to get an education and have strong credentials. Spend a few of those dollars to see if you can avoid the being described as a convicted criminal.
If you want to talk, feel free to give me a call-no cost or obligation.
Good Luck
