Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

false information to a police officer

My son was recently ticketed for a minor offense. He became

frustrated and later that day called the police and told them he was carjacked. They came and took himn to a hospital for treatment because he had harmed himself and threatened to harm himself more. He has in the past been treated for ADHD and was on medication. He stopped the

medication since he is no longer in school, After this

incident he has seen a professional and is back on medication. He is 20. Now the police officer has sent this

situation to the prosecutor and he most likely will

be charged. The physician has offered to write a letter

saying he is undergoing treatment. What are we apt to be

facing here. In his situation a jail sentence would be

very detrimental to his treatment and status. What

can we do to get through this and not brankrupt ourselves

by hiring a lawyer we cannot afford.

Re: false information to a police officer

The information from the doctor should be helpful. He should still try to get an attorney or have one appointed if he is eligible.
