You should contact an attorney either as soon as you get notice of court proceedings against you, or as soon as you are contacted by law enforcement regarding a possible crime, whichever occurs first. As soon as you get the notice or are contacted by the police, you should immediately seek a criminal defense attorney to help protect you. You should not speak with the police until you have contacted a lawyer.
