Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

fines

I would like to know if you go to court and are given a fine to pay, and you do not have the money. I know that you stay in jail til your next court date. But here is my question when you go back to court do you get out as time severd? Or do you still have to say in jail til cash is paid? Dollar amout only being 150.00

Re: fines

Debtor's prison has been abolished in this country. If you owe a fine and do not have the capacity to make money to pay the fine, then the Court should be informed of that and you should be offered alternatives (community service, for example). If you have the capacity to earn the money to pay a fine and simply do not have the money, then some courts credit a fixed amount of money per day of jail as a credit against your fine.
