Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
My friend was on house arrest waiting for his court date on a domestic violence case. The living arrangements were unbearable and he cut off his bracelet and left. He was still planning on going to his court date and the victim is not showing up. Now people are telling him that cutting off the bracelet is an additional "escape" charge, a felony 3. Is this true and what would be the best way to handle this?
Thank You

I did not look up the escape statute because the answer to this entire scenario is to HIRE A LAWYER. Lay people can not handle something so serious and your friend is looking at substantial prison time. Also, the victim may be brought in by the sheriff so I would not count on it. The escape just makes matters oh so worse. He needs a lawyer, asap.
