Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
She won't give my ring back, what do I do?
Ex will not give my ring back (couple hundred dollars). Refuses to, and I don't know what else to do. She tells me leave her alone, I will when I get my ring back. Any advice on maybe a letter to send her, or something? As Ohio law states in Section 2913.02. Theft. that any person knowingly obtain or exert control over either the property (or services). She's doing exactly that. Keeps telling me (for about a month) that she'll give it back, but never does. I don't want her to have my ring, I want it back. Is this even something I could take to small claims court? She's threatened having me ''beat up'' by friends if I don't leave her alone. I haven't threatened legal action, because I don't know if I have a case, but she does have my ring. I want either the ring, or the money. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is probably a matter best suited for a civil attorney. There is quite a bit of case law throughout the country regarding the rights of the parties over an engagement ring when the parties break up.

If this is not an engagement ring and you didn't actually give it to her to keep and she admits that, then call the police or sue in small claims and have a receipt of payment. But the police might get the quickest result.
