Grand Jury Indictment
My nephew read in the paper today that he has been indicted by a grand jury for theft. He was never questioned and must appear in court next week. He went to the police station to try to get some info. Wouldnt give any told him to see the detective tommorrow. He swears he didnt do this. Can he be indicted by a grand jury if he was never questioned and what is the next steps??

Re: Grand Jury Indictment
Yes, he can be indicted without being questioned or notified. The first step which is his first court date, is the arraignment, at which he will enter a plea....not guilty at this point. He needs a lawyer there at that time.
