Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Identity Theft
I live in Ohio and my fiancee and I had a roommate who recently moved out. The roommate acquired a 19 yr olds social security number that he used online to try to obtain credit cards.Several of which came in the mail today. I was wondering since this was all done on my fiancee's computer are my fiancee and myself in any way shape or form going to be looking at charges for this? We are trying to locate the girl who's social he used. Any help would be great thanks

Re: Identity Theft
Hello,
Sorry about the situation that you are in. Here is my best advice. I would contact the police about this entire situation. Come clean with them and tell them the entire story. You guys should be fine as long as you did not know what your roommate was doing and/or did not assist them in any way.
By coming clean now you can prevent a lot of potential problems that my arise in the future.
If you need any more help with this situation or if you would like me to contact the police for you I will be glad to help. Feel free to contact me at any time.
Thanks and have a great day.
