Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
inmate tranferring
My son was sentenced to four years in an Ohio prison for a non-violent crime. Is there a way to have him transferred to a California facility. He has no visitors due to the location of the prison. No family lives within a 1000 miles of the prison. Also can we go to court after minimum time is served and ask for a judicial release, not that you would get one. Thanks
Mary

Re: inmate tranferring
A transfer to another state is extremely unlikely, since CA would have to agree to accept him, which they are unlikely to do and Ohio would not want to pay for his incarceration out of state.
Judicial Release is possible after 6 months so long as no portion of the sentence is mandatory.
