Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Innocent

I was accused of Grand Theft, I was innocent of this crime and fought the charges. I was offered several plea bargains but I refused them because I was innocent. I placed my faith in our Justice System and was found "not guilty" by a jury. I lost my job over this because my employer said "YOU WERE FOUND NOT GUILTY, YOU WERE NOT FOUND INNOCENT". My question is can I ever get the mark removed from my record because I continually lose out on jobs because employers look at you like all I did was beat the system and my ex-employer tells every potential employer about it. Can I stop it??

Re: Innocent

First of all you can have the arrest expunged. Go to the clerk of Courts in the county where you had the trial and ask to expunge the arrest. Secondly since you were found not guilty, the employer should not be spreading "rumors" about you. Falsely accusing someone of criminal behavior is slander.

Good luck.
