Re: Judicial Release
A defendant files a motion for judicial release when he or she wants the judge to let him or her out of prison before the expiration of the stated prison sentence.
The State files a brief in opposition to defendant's motion for judical release when the State opposes the motion, and does not want the judge to allow the inmate to get out of prison earlier than the stated prison term.
