Law school question
Why is it necessary to create legal definitions for some terms (death, insanity) which differentiate them from the medical definitions?

Since we are under a statutory scheme of laws, (and not common law) we have to define these terms within the statutes themselves....legislators have to agree on the definitions...whether they respect the medical field's opinion is up to them, since they write the rules...not the doctors...
