Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Before leaving on a sabbatical, I packed up all my important belongings include items of real and sentimental value and entrusted the with a friend. Upon my return I was told all my property was returned to my empty home. They were not and there was no break in. The property was stolen by my friend and her ex-husband. I believe pawned and remainder thrown away. What are my realistic options? More likely to get results criminally or in a civil suit?

File a police report. If you know who had your property last and can indicate which items you gave that person, then that will give the police something to investigate. I'd wait to see the result of the police investigation and then determine what to do in a civil action.
