Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
I live in Ohio and several years ago I violated my probation and served 9 months in prison. It was an F-5 felony and the maximum was 1 year in prison. After I got out of prison the court tried to collect on fines from that case but I was under the impression that since I went and did my maximum amount of time that the fines would be dropped. Do I still have to pay these fines or is there a motion or some type of legal action I need to take to get them dropped.

The fine does not go away by going to jail. If you're indigent and the court considers you too poor to pay, you can be absolved from paying, but you have to file a motion.... Call me directly if you want help with this
