Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Making a statement to the police

I was recently visited by a college campus police officer and was told that my name had come up in an investigation and my figerprint was on a piece of video equipment. I was a student there in a Recording Arts and Technologies Program So my fingerprints could be everywhere on Campus. I made the statement of this and that i had not been there in 2 or 3 months, i was asked to come down to the college and make a statement on the information which was already told to the officer. i am currently under monitered post release control from being incarcerated for 3 years and i have been doing very well thus far, Do i have to or should imake a statement by myself or should i seek a lawyer at this time even though im NOT under arrest?

I understand some things about the 5th Amendment but i don't totally understand what to do or not to do.

Re: Making a statement to the police

I would get a lawyer before making any further statements.
