Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

marijuana possesion

my son got cited for a possesion of pot charge misdemeanor, and paid a fine. Then a while later he got pulled over in a friends car and was charged with a pariphinailla for a pipe. they found no pot. For this he had to go to court. His case was continued and he was ordered to see a court appointed physcologist. He saw her 2 times and she reported back that he was a good kid and recommened NO jail time or rehab. The judge sentenced him to 1 year probation and fines and court cost. My son is just going to be twenty years old and he is a good kid. I think that his 1 year probabtion seems quite excessive! He has never been in trouble for anything before this. Can we appeal this?

Re: marijuana possesion

At this point, it is probably not worth trying to appeal. Actually, I do a lot of criminal law and in my experience one year of probation is not that excessive, even though it is a minor offense.
