Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Missing money
I gave a relative 15,000 dollars to put in a safe he had. When I went to use the money, he said he had lost the combo for it. He released it to me and I obtained the combo from the company legally.
The safe was empty, and he claims he has no clue where it has gone. He filed a Police report, and contacted his homeowner insurance. They will not be paying out. What can I do to get it? I'm positive he stole it, and has filed false reports, and claims.

Re: Missing money
Your best bet at getting your money is to file a civil lawsuit against your relative. Your claim would be that your relative lost the money while in his care, and therefore he is responsible for the lost money. Besides the amount lost, you could ask for interest on the amount.
Whether you want to file a lawsuit against a relative is something to consider though, because it could have ramifications in your family relationships.
