Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Using non profit orginazation to pay my debt
I was the president of a non profit organazation, my car broke down so i used 900.00 of the non profit money to pay the car off. I used a check from a closed account that i had forgotten was closed. so i put a deposit of 990.00 in the account to cover the bad check and replace the money i borrowed. I have resigned from the organazation but they filed charges on me, umiss use of a non profit bank account. the police want me at the station, what will happen from there?
Please help as I am scared and broke.

Re: Using non profit orginazation to pay my debt
It appears that you're being accused of the theft of $900.00, which is a felony of the fifth degree. Depending upon all of the circumstances involved, including your prior crimininal record, if any, you could be sentenced to up to twelve months in prison if convicted. I would strongly recommend that you have an attorney accompany you to the police station.

It's not clear if you replaced the money. It's not theft if you did, simply misuse. You will be treated much better if you actually replaced the money. Do not go to the police without a lawyer, and they will understand if you want to bring one. Call me directly if you like:
