Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Personal Debts

Was on a family plan with ex-boyfriend for cell phone. He was to payoff an old collection and then get an individual plan. He faked copies of cancelled checks to a CA so he could stay on the plan. When I found out, I cut off the phone. He is obligated to pay cancellation fee $200 plus usage to date of cancellation according to a written agreement we had. I know this is a small claims action which I may have to deal with. Main Question is whether faking these cancelled checks which were never given to anyone or run thru bank is a crime? Or just another of his con-job successes.

Re: Personal Debts

I am not sure that I understand the facts well enough to respond, but here goes. When you say he "faked copies of cancelled checks to a CA", are you saying that he forged a document to make it look like he had paid a credit agency? I don't know what you mean by "CA" and by "faked copies of cancelled checks", but that interpretation makes sense.

It could be a crime, if the result of his forgery was to obtain property, goods or services that he would have been denied had he told the truth.

Hope this helps.
