Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Police Officers use of eccessive force
My daughtes baby was removed from her custody a a hospital in Logan Ohio. When the four officers came, along with Childrens services and was taking the child my wife went toward the child to give her a kiss goodby was grabbed by the hair and slammed to the floor with one of the officers on her back. Through all of this she said she had kicked one of them because they were hurting her. After being handcuffed and led to the police car by the one she had kicked, his comment was that she was not going to get her grandchild back, and that this is what she is goingto get and slammed her fac e into the car. The result was a badly brused face, a back eye, and a bruised back. I would think that four officers should be able to contain one woman without causeing bodily harm. Should we file a complaint and press charges or would we be waisting oure money and time. This is a kind of small town and this kind of thing is pretty common, but as a lot of people say, it needs to be stopped. We have pctures of the bruises. Thanks, Dave

Re: Police Officers use of eccessive force
If this was an obvious abuse of power and a violation of her civil rights, I would definitely persue it. This is probably not the first time this cop has hidden behind his badge and beat someone up. I assited another attorney, who can be found on this website, with a similer case a few years ago. His name is Joe Jacobs and we did very well with the case. Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
