While it is possible to negotiate a reduced charge at the preliminary hearing, that normally does not happen in Franklin County. The fact that you are scheduled for a preliminary hearing tells me that you are charged with a felony offense -- one where a prison term is possible. I strongly recommend that you hire an attorney to assist you when ever there is a possibility of a prison sentence.
There are many good criminal defense attorneys in central Ohio. Please contact one of them to help you through this difficult time.
I would be glad to answer any questions -- feel free to give me a call.
