What Happens at a Pre-Trial?
I had my arranment today and plead not guilty to theft parma cod. or. 642.02 (m1). also i was appointed a public defender. can i ask to get into a diversion program and what does that entail? also at that time can ask for a lesser charge? thanks for your help

You should ask your attorney. Most times, defense attorneys will contact the prosecutors and begin talking about a possible resolution. Make sure you tell your lawyer about your desires... he or she can't gauranty a result, but can at least have an understanding of what you'd like to accomplish.
