Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
probation extended
can probation be extended -- one week before probation time is up -- there has been no violations during probation. however-- judge has decided that since a civil case led from the crimal case with restituation to pay -- that he has ordered that probation be extended 2 years longer. i am needing to know if this is allowed? the probation was ordered only on the criminal case.

At first glance, it does not seem right that he would extend your probation UNLESS part of the conditions of your probation dealt with repaying the restitution owed. Other than criminal violations, there can be a number of conditions of probation, like maintaining gainful employment for example.
