Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Probation Violation
ok, my boyfriend got a DUI when he was 17. He got his license suspended and got 2 driving under suspensions after. They suspended his license longer each time. He is now 22 and he is able to get his license back on June 10. However, he had a $2,000 reinstatement fee and when he paid that, the BMV told him that he could not get his license because he has a warrant out for a probation violation. When he was put on probation he also had a failure to appear, missing his court date, but that was taken care of and they put him on probation. He thought he only had a year of probation, but he found out it was 2 years. So he just didnt show up to the next probation meeting. This is from almost 2 years ago. He is going to turn himself in, but will he go to jail, and if so how long. Can we get a lawyer to help and can they stop him from going to jail. He has not got into any trouble in the past 2 years and this is the only trouble he has ever been in.
