Punishment dosn't fit crime

My girl�s husband was convicted of bank robbery. She was found guilty of attempted money attempted laundering. Her sentence was 5 years probation ok with but she was ordered to pay back the $200,000.00 dollars he stole. While he serves a 9 yr. Sentence. Is the pay back seem right to you.

Yes. In Federal Court, as well as under Ohio law, the Court is required to impose an order of restitution upon anyone who was part of the criminal conduct. Normally those orders of restitution are "joint and several" ---- which means that all parties are ordered to pay 100% of the restitution. The Court only enforces the restitution order once, so the victim does not get a double recovery. If her boyfriend gets out of prison and has a restitution order, and if she had paid all of the $200,000 herself by that point, then the restitution from the boyfriend would be paid to her.
