receiving stolen property
My friend was arrested yesturday for receiving stolen property and I want to know the min. and max. penalty for that. It was under $100 and it involved food stamps. He wasn't the one that actually stole it but, was present when it was sold.

Re: receiving stolen property
If the value of the property is under $500, then receiving stolen property is a misdemeanor of the first degree, for which the maximum penalty is 6 months in jail and a $1000 fine. But if he was merely present when the crime occurred, I'm not sure he's guilty of anything. What county is this in? And has he talked to a lawyer yet?
