Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Release of car after arrest
After my arrest in 1998, the sheriff's office refused to release my car until the storage bill was over $1,000. I wrote to the sheriff and my attorney as soon as I found someone to pick it up, but my request was ignored. How long is law enforcement permitted to keep a car? Drugs/alcohol were not involved.

Re: Release of car after arrest
There is no time limit as far as I know. The car won't be released until storage is paid. If it is not paid then it can be forfeited to the department as payment.
