Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Restoring rights to carry firearm and expungement.
I was convicted of a 4th degree felony in 1993. I applied to have it expunged once and it was declined because of a misdemeanor that I had gotten before my conviction and sentencing. I wondered why this happened like this and what I would need to do to get it expunged. What then do I need to do to restore my rights to carry a firearm. The conviction was not one with a gun spec. I am a quarter away from graduation from OSU and I want to be able to get some closure to disgressions from my youth and go to Law school in the fall. Any help I can get i would appreciate.

Re: Restoring rights to carry firearm and expungement.
Unfortunately, you can only have your first conviction expunged. That is why you could not expunge the felony. However, you can file a motion to restore your rights to carry a firearm. The motion to restore firearm rights is separate from expungement.
