In Ohio, police have jurisdiction over only the area that they are empowered to serve. However, the statute conferring the jurisdicion does have wording in it that extends it to streets that are contiguous to the jurisdictional boundaries. Further still, some municipalities will sometimes sign policing agreements with other municipal entities which will create the necessary jurisdiction.
Lastly, since the rules setting up jurisdicion are statutory rather than constitutional, the remedy of suppression would not apply even if they were out of their jurisdiction.
