Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
stolen check, forged
My daughters boyfriend stole a check from my Mom....it was a check that belonged to the church, so it wasn't my Mom's personal checks...but she was responsible for them. He forged her name and tried to cash it at the local bank which called her and the police. What could he be charged with? Ohio

He could be charged with theft of a check and forgery, both of which are felonies of the fifth degree, each punishable by up to 12 months in prison.
