Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Stolen Jacket at Restaurant
My jacket was taken from a restaurant coat room. Upon arriving at the restaurant, an employee took the jacket and hung it up (this is an upscale restaurant). When we left, the jacket was gone and the restaurant will do nothing about it. Also, there is no sign in the coat room notifying that they are not responsible for any missing items. My question is: Since a restaurant employee took the jacket, is the restaurant liable for the jacket? I am taking them to small claims court and would like to know my chances of winning the suit prior to appearing in court.

Re: Stolen Jacket at Restaurant
You do have a good chance to prevail and re-coupe the cost of the coat. They had possession of it and therefore bear some liability.
