Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Traffic stop with attached criminal charges.
My 19 yr old son was stopped for a traffic violation(failure to yield) and seat belt. After a lenghty search, a marijuana pipe with residue was found in the crack of the car seat. He denied this was his, was not under the influence nor charged with being so. In addition to the traffic charges, he is also charged with paraphernalia and drug abuse (I assume abuse because of the residue). He has no prior record of any kind. Can you advise what may happen to him? Do we need legal represetation? Thank you.

There is a license suspension of 6 months in addition to any other penalty the court may impose. I would probably get an attorney to make sure that your rights are protected.
