What is the sentence for a peron who was caught with a unregistered firearm? Is it proper proceeder to stop and search a persons car because you think they sell drugs?

If you were in the City limits of Cleveland or Lakewood, you're in trouble (6 months mandatory jail)

It depends on what the officer says he saw which could give him probable cause to pull you over. (were people approaching your vehicle, were you in a high drug traffic area, etc.) As for the gun, you will most likely be charged with CCW(carrying a concealed weapon) and if it is your 1st offense for that, it is a misdemeanor of the first degree = maximum $1000. fine and 6 mo in jail. THere are a number of affirmative defenses to a CCW charge and the law was just recently rewritten. Feel free to call me on this matter. 216-241-1214
