Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
I am wanting to file a lawsuit against my local police department due to wrongful arrest. I am having a hard time doing this on a contingent basis and I cannot afford to pay for costs. I have prepared a statement of events and I am wondering if I am legally able to mail this letter to my local police department without legal represetation in hopes to settle out of court?

Sure, you can legally mail a letter to the police department without legal representation. However, I would be stunned if they even responded to you in any way. At the very least you should have a lawyer write the letter. But it is my opinion that your probabilities of gaining a settlement with this scenario is very low.
