Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
two weeks ago i pulled into a driveway and asked for a woman i was told lived there. i was met by two men one with a shotgun and one with a sword. i was there to inquire about a car that had been sitting in the weeds for quite asome time to see if it were for sale. the men said she was not home and said that they had been robbed. then i was reading the sunday sept. 6th paper and said that charges had been filed against me for burglary. this is the first i have heard of this and know only that i have done nothing wrong.i was contacted today and told that the car was for sale and the people who accused me wanted to meet for me to look at the car, i did not go but would like to know what the proceedure is when you have charges filed against you/ why i heard about it when i read the paper? and if i have grounds for a slander lawsuit?

You do have grounds for a slander lawsuit if you did nothing wrong. Have the police contacted you yet? It seems strange that they would not contact you but would only put your name in the paper. Has a court date been set yet?
Feel free to contact me, free of charge, at [email protected] or at 330-447-7634. I am happy to help in any way that I can.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
