Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Will they drop DV charges?

My girlfriend and I got into an argument after drinking one night. The police were called and I was arrested Misdemeanor 1 DV. She has a broken nose and bruised forehead--the story she gave while drunk was that I beat her. The next day she came to and remembered she had actually fallen face first on our concrete porch while coming after me. She doesn't want to press charges now, obviously the courts are still going to want to due to her injuries. Is it better for her to go to the prosecutor with a revised statement or just not show up ever in court? Will they drop the charges if she doesn't show up?

It would be better for her to tell the prosecutor the truth. If she is subpoenaed for trial and fails to appear, she could be arrested.

She needs to tell the prosecutor what really happened. If he knows that that is what she will say on the stand, they might reduce your charges to something like a disorderly conduct.
