In Ohio, they can still charge you as long as the delay in charging you does not run them afoul of either your sixth amendment right to a speedy trial or your rights under Ohio's Speedy Trial Act of 1974.
You may want to check online at your local municipal court or court of common pleas to make sure that no cases have been started against you.
