can a couple get out of a rental lease if there are health issues involved in using the stairway
1 Answer from Attorneys
The answer to your question depends on several variables, and additional facts and information would be needed. In addition, the language of your lease agreement must be carefully reviewed.
Speaking generally, most residential leases, such as for an apartment or home, typically do not provide the tenant with a right to terminate the lease early for health related reasons. However, if your situation involves a retirement community, assisted living facility, or a continuing care community, the lease or residence contract might contain provisions which address health care problems which arise and thereby make the living arrangement unsuitable or unsafe for the resident. Such a provision might permit the resident to terminate the agreement early, or give the resident some options to relocate to a different area of the facility or community.
This is not a complete list of the legal issues which could be involved, and I would suggest that you promptly consult in person with an experienced attorney so you can receive comprehensive advise on your situation. I wish you well in resolving these issues.
